We handle verification documents with utmost care as follows:

• These documents are used strictly for verification purposes only
• They are stored securely and accessed only by authorized personnel
• They are not shared publicly or sold to any third party
• Only the provider's verification status (e.g., a "Verified" badge) may be displayed on their storefront

6. Payments & Financial Information

UrbanWish facilitates online payments to make bookings seamless and secure.

• UrbanWish does not store full card details

9. Data Retention & Account Deletion

Personal data

Your profile, contact details, saved addresses, preferences, notifications, chat messages, and saved payment methods are kept while your account is active.

When you delete your account from the app, your email, phone, and Google/Apple sign-in are released immediately so you can create a fresh account if you change your mind. Your profile is marked for permanent removal.

30 days after deletion, our system permanently removes your profile, notifications, chat messages, saved payment methods, favourites, and personal preferences. Vouchers you owned are voided; vouchers you gifted to others remain valid for those recipients.

Financial and transaction records

Booking history, transaction records, and platform revenue ledgers are retained for the statutory periods required by:

• The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) — six years for tax audit
• The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) — five years for AML and payment compliance

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), we rely on the "compliance with a legal obligation" carve-out to preserve these records — including the customer name captured at the time of a transaction. This lets us reconcile disputes, honour refund windows, and respond to regulator audits. These records survive account deletion; on internal views they appear anonymised where possible, but the historical financial fact (who paid, when, how much) is preserved.

Formal erasure requests

If you require full removal of your identity from our financial records outside the tiered retention above, contact us at support@urbanwish.com with a written NDPR erasure request. We review each request individually and honour it where legal obligations do not require otherwise.
